Perennial best treated as annual. Two-lipped flower on tall spikes. A versatile plant available in many colours and sizes. Taller types look brilliant when massed planted in rear garden beds, excellent cut flower. Remove spent flowers regularly, apply liquid fertiliser (low nitrogen) when in bud to encourage new flowers. Protect taller varieties from wind, may require staking. Salt and wind sensitive.
